Spring finally arrives at Far Ings

One proud parent!
What a wonderful day at Far Ings today. A superbly sunny day although windy and, as usual freezing in the hide. Summer visitors are now arriving in force. There were large numbers of swallows and housemartins skimming over the lake and in the wooded areas of the reserve were chiffchaff, willow warbler and whitethroat. The first new arrivals are in evidence as well - coot chicks and a brood of greylag goslings. The exciting thing though was that the marsh harriers are displaying and nest building in the reed bed in front of the hide. What a fantatsic show.
