An Excellent day at Bempton

Bempton Cliffs
I had planned a day at Bempton with fellow photographers Roger Hatcliffe and Clare Drewell. I arrived at Roger's house at 7.30 and we were soon picking Clare up at Barton and over the Humber Bridge. The journey to Bempton went well and we were already on the cliff top in blazing sun by 9.30. As always it was a multisensory delight - well apart from the smell!!! The air was thick with wheeling seabirds and the calling of the birds wonderful. I love the sound of the kittiwakes calling their name and there is always the baseline of the more gutteral gannets. It was difficult at first deciding what to photograph and to pick out individual birds. Many early shots were for the waste bin but gradually we got our eye in and we all came away after a tiring but ecellent day with some pleasing shots!
