Marsh Orchids at Cleethorpes

Article text
Hybrid, marsh/common spotted orchids.
Despite the grey and overcast weather I decided to make a quick trip to Cleethorpes to see the orchids that flower every year so spectacularly in the sand dunes. They are easy to find as there are in the region of 2000 of them and some are very large indeed. There are three different types of orchid here: small pure common spotted orchids, pure southern marsh orchids and often very large hybrids between the two. As usual there was an excellent display and well worth a visit.
