Red Hill, Southrey and Chambers

Whte Admiral
A long day out today with Roger and Dave. Also met Colin and Dean with his dad! We were on a butterfly hunt today and started out at Redhill for marbled whites. There were plenty about but were difficult to photograph because of the windy conditions. Did manage some shots however. From Red Hill we drove Southrey Wood near Bardney which is a good site for White Admiral butterflies. Again there were plenty about. What a large and magnificent butterfly this is. Our final destination was Chambers Wood to try for better marbled white shots. They were not so plentiful here and they were very reluctant to settle on photogenic flowers preferring low down in the grass. I did, however, find a mating pair which had their minds on other things and so were easy to photograph.
