A blank at Far Ings

Article text
Winter view of the reserve from Ness Hide
Went to Far Ings early this morning hoping for bearded tits but hadn't taken into account how windy it was so although I saw some the reeds were being blown about so much there was no chance of photography. In fact I didn't take a photograph of any sort - must be a record!!!! I did get a great but brief view of a sparrowhawk, however, and I did get another brief sighting of what could have been a hobby - dark, blue/grey back and definitely sickle shaped wings.
I was astonished at how the view from Ness Hide has changed over the last few weeks. The reeds have completely grown up and have obscured the area where the water rail was last year. The bank outside the hide now seems about twice as wide.
