Humberston Fitties, Cleethorpes

The Lake at 'The Fitties'.
A place that I like to visit is the shore and lake at Humberston Fitties. It is very close to Grimsby and Cleethorpes, only 15 minutes from home and on the edge of Tetney Marshes RSPB reserve. Although close to civilization it has a real 'wild' feel to it. It had been a very average day weather and light wise but perked up enough during the afternoon to make it worthwhile paying a visit. There were numerous mallard about along with various gulls and waders. The waders included two black tailed godwit, oystercatchers, turnstone and a few very secretive snipe. Several dabchicks were also busy fishing on the lake. There were quite a few swans about and when I heard three taking off I managed a few flight shots. It was only when I had downloaded the images that I realised that one of them was a whooper - really nice!
